| On August 1st, 1977, the Supreme Counsel
of the Grand Lodge of the Sons of Italy in America granted a
charter to a group of founding members and the Cape Cod Lodge
2404 Order of Sons of Italy in America was born and Cape Cod
had its first Italian American club based in Hyannis.
In the early 1980’s, through the volunteer efforts of
many founding members a fund raising drive was started and became
very popular on the Cape and was known as PastaNite and ran
at various locations on Wednesday nights in the off season.
Pasta Nite eventually found a home in Mashpee as two of our
members, Dan and Eva Paliuca offered the use of their restaurant,
Dan and Bill and S. Joseph DiMaggio became Pasta Nite Chairman.
Pasta Nite moved once again, remaining in Mashpee as members
Don and Donna Blethen offered the use of their restaurant, Ma
Glockners and the traditional Italian food offered at Pasta
Nite became increasingly popular and the fund raising efforts
centered on building a home for Cape Cod Lodge 2404.
On January 1st, 1988, our dream of a beautiful home become a
reality as we opened our brand new function facility, La Sala
Grande (Italian for The Great Room) and the Pasta Nite
venture moved into its very own location with two final changes:
it became a year round operation and a move to Thursday evenings
where it is still a staple amongst the locals and a popular
tourist attraction.
Cape Cod Lodge 2404, coming a long way from its humble beginnings,
was now the proud owner of La Sala Grande, a full service catering/function
hall which has become home to many events, family celebrations,
annual fund raisers, wedding, parties and all types of events.
Our current President and Pasta Nite Chairperson, Holly Gaglio,
our management team of Michael DiMaggio (Joe’s son), John
Scaramuzzo, all the past lodge presidents, officers and members
of Cape Cod Lodge 2404 through the year, thank you, our cherished
customers, for your past and future support and we are very
excited about the coming years. |
